Very, Hungry Sockerpillars

Enjoy a story and build your own very, hungry sockerpillar stuffy! We will use recycled tube socks and loose parts to learn about how caterpillars eat and transform into beautiful butterflies! Attendees can expect to learn about caterpillars and butterflies and to take home their own stuffed caterpillar! We will choose a colorful sock and learn about bright insects! Attendees in this workshop will enjoy open-ended art play and exploration of loose parts, while creating with a goal in mind.

Flower Fairy Construction

Explore and learn how to create your own special fairy friend who will fit in your hand. Made from small common items this class will start you on your road to wonderful creations!
Working with simple materials, one will learn how to make whimsical figures that might be the beginning of fairy gardens or worlds! Perfect for the imaginations of young children!

Collage Marionettes

Enjoy a story and build your own marionette animal out of recycled materials! Learn to build a puppet and enjoy open-ended art play during this 1 hour weekend workshop. Attendees can expect to enjoy a short book, learn how to assemble their own marionette puppet and can decorate it with the provided loose parts and art materials as they choose. Attendees can work on fine motor skills including tearing and gluing and stringing beads while using their imaginations to create an animal of their choice.
This workshop is appropriate for ages 6 to 9.

Mending and Patchwork

This workshop will provide the participants with knowledge on how to mend their garments which have been ripped or torn. Mending is a small sustainable option that extends the lifetime of the wearer’s favorite garment. This class encourages its participants to embrace patchwork, darning, and other techniques.
Participants will learn general garment mending, patchwork, darning, and some hand sewing techniques. Please bring in a garment that could use mending!

Introduction to Basic Sewing: Totes

Learn how to reclaim denim samples into a fashionable and sturdy tote bag! We will go over the basics of using a sewing machine and how to handle straight-stitch and zig-zag stitch.
We will be cutting material, sewing straight and zig-zag stitch, and making style decisions regarding the design of each tote both in color choices and amount of pockets on the bag.

This workshop is appropriate for ages 12 and up.
