Volunteer
Volunteers Are Our Key Transformers.

ScrapsKC loves our volunteers and we succeed because of them! We’re always looking for individuals and groups to join us.
Current Volunteer Needs

Detailer
If you pay attention to detail ScrapsKC needs you! We need someone to make sure our retail signs are up-to-date and visible, make sure appropriate bags are available near items that are sold by the bag, and materials are organized and in their place on the shelves.
Time commitment: 2 hours every week.
Inside Decorator
Do you love creating large spaces with free materials? We want to liven up and “funkify” our store while providing unique ideas for our customers and a gallery space for student art work.
Time commitment: Varies depending on creations
Fabric Specialist
Fabric is our number one seller and donation. We need someone knowledgeable about material and yardage to sort and organize fabric to prepare for sale, and stock fabric shelves to keep the fabric donations moving out the door.
Time commitment: 2 hours every week during store hours.
Homeless Hospitality
For compassionate individuals with strong interest in helping the homeless. Maintaining homeless closet supplies, posting donation requests for survival/dignity items and meals, and interacting/building trusting relationships with the homeless in our store.
Time commitment: At least 1-2 hours per week. Donation requests could be done at home.
Intake Volunteer
Volunteers will work behind the scenes to help process materials from donation to floor. If you like following a process, are efficient, organized and task oriented, this is the place for you! We’re looking for six volunteers who are familiar with materials from one of the following categories: arts, crafts, school supplies, office supplies, vintage, miscellaneous items and holiday items.
Time commitment: At least 2-4 hours per week.

Make a difference and get started on your volunteer journey.
“We want to bring all sorts of people together, build a community and then learn from each other. There are so many things that we can learn – whether it`s educationally, environmentally, creatively – about the way we live.”
Group Volunteer Opportunities
Church groups, businesses, scouts, school kids, college students, mom groups, golf or tennis buddies, or any other group you belong to, are invited to volunteer together at ScrapsKC. We also ask each member of the group to bring a dignity or survival item for our homeless volunteers.

Processing materials
Sorting inventory, packaging and grouping materials, setting up displays, and organizing things.

Make and prepare meals
Every month we feed up to 100 people. Volunteers can bring and serve lunch for the homeless or provide breakfast sandwiches and coffee for our Saturday street outreach.

Activity prep
Your business and/or coworkers can assist with workshop preparations, creating samples, or general store maintenance.
