Volunteer Coordinator at ScrapsKC

Full Time: 40 hours (Tuesday–Saturday)

Compensation: $21 - $23 per hour

Benefits: We do not currently provide health insurance. (We do offer a “Personal care” bonus to make up for the difference you may need to pay for healthcare out of pocket.)

PTO: 80 hours your first year, 85 your second year, and 90 your third year. (Holidays, a day for your birthday, and some additional days are included as well.)

Do you love people, purpose, and organized chaos? ScrapsKC is looking for a full-time Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer program—bringing enthusiasm, organization and heart to every interaction.

In this role, you’ll recruit, onboard, and support a diverse group of volunteers—from first timers to corporate teams. You’ll connect them with meaningful work that fuels our mission and keeps our organization running.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Matching volunteers with projects that fit their skills and interests
• Leading engaging tours and sharing our mission with new faces
• Keeping project areas tidy and fully stocked with supplies
• Making sure staff are ready for volunteers each week with clear plans and materials
• Training, supervising, and encouraging volunteers to do their best work
• Build and maintain relationships with regular volunteers through regular communication.
• Develop relationships with corporate volunteers in order to deepen their connection to ScrapsKC in multiple ways.

You’ll also manage scheduling, track hours, and use social media and outreach to grow our community. Events like “Sip N Sorts” are part of the fun—you’ll help plan and promote them to keep our volunteer culture vibrant.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll spend time with people, move through the facility to work with volunteers in all areas, and jump in where needed to support the team to ensure a clean, safe, productive environment.
